Happy 39th Earth Day!
I vividly remember participating in the first Earth Day celebration on my college campus.
We were all full of hope that we were going to save Mother Earth from any further destruction. In many ways, I think we have more work to do today than we did 39 years ago! Most of you have probably heard the following before, but it seems most appropriate to think about Chief Seattle's wise words again today on Earth Day!

ReplyDeleteAm I the only person who remembers the original Earth Day symbol? It looks like a circle with a horizontal line through the middle -- like a lowercase letter e where the tail is extended to complete the circle. I suppose it was meant to become as ubiquitous as the peace symbol, but it never reached critical mass. I've still got my Earth Day button somewhere . . .

ReplyDeleteAnd gosh, I was trying to remember that logo but just can't get it in my mind's eye. I even tried goggling but to no avail. I did find a site that showed companies that changed their logos for today in honor of Earth Day! Kinda' like Google does for so many holidays etc. I bet your button is a real collector's item now! Seems like there should have been a parade or something very special here today--but there wasn't!~
